What is the SCORKL?

The SCORKL is a certified, personal lightweight dive cylinder with a with a regulator, mouthpiece and pressure gauge directly attached. With a working pressure of 200 bar (3000 psi), SCORKLers can get up to 10 minutes of underwater exploration.

How long can you stay underwater with the SCORKL?

You can explore underwater for up to 10 minutes at a time with the SCORKL. How fast you breathe, how deep you descend and the temperature of the water you’re SCORKLlNG in all impact how long you can stay under the surface.

Do I need a SCUBA certification to buy or use a SCORKL?

No, you do not need a SCUBA qualification to purchase and/or use the SCORKL. Notwithstanding this, you should not use SCORKL products without reading and understanding the risks and necessary precautions of use.

What's the difference between the SCORKL and the SCORKL Pro?

Does the SCORKL really work?

Yes, the SCORKL is a real, safe and internationally certified shallow diving device. It's certified against EN 250:2014 which is the European (de-facto, world) SCUBA standard. To date, we’ve delivered over 7,000+ units to customers worldwide.

Is the SCORKL Certified?

Most certainly, yes, the SCORKL is internationally certified for shallow diving against the European standard EN 250:2014.

What is the cylinder standard of the SCORKL?

The SCORKL cylinder is manufactured to the European Standard BS-5045-8 and has passed the international certification test as the European standard EN 250 is the de-facto world standard for scuba equipment.

How deep can you go with the SCORKL?

The SCORKL is designed for shallow diving use only. We recommend use at no deeper than 6 metres (20 feet) in waters at or above 15°C (60°F).

How fast can I refill the SCORKL?

The operating pressure for both the SCORKL and the SCORKL PRO is 200 bar (3000 psi). This is the same standard pressure of a traditional SCUBA tank.

What are the dimensions and capacity of the SCORKL and SCORKL PRO?

What’s the air capacity of the SCORKL?

The SCORKL contains approximately 68 surface breaths. The SCORKL PRO contains approximately 80 surface breaths.

What’s the volume of the SCORKL cylinder?

The water volume of the SCORKL is 510 ml (31 cu in) and the SCORKL PRO is 600 mil (37 cu in).

Do I need to purchase refill adapters for my SCORKL?

Every SCORKL comes with a free SCUBA tank refill adapter and a free dive compressor adapter.

Can the SCORKL and SCORKL PRO both fit in the Adventure case?

Yes, your SCORKL Adventure Case comes with pre-cut foam that is designed to fit 2 SCORKLs or 2 SCORKL PROs.

Where do I put the handle on my SCORKL Adventure Case?

Immediately underneath the cut for the pump shaft there is a cut designed to hold your pump handle.

Can the SCORKL and the SCORKL PRO both fit in the Compact Case?

Yes, your Compact Case comes with pre-cut foam that is designed to fit 2 SCORKLs or 2 SCORKL PROs.

Does the SCORKL Float?

No, the SCORKL does not float.

Do I need a retractor to use the SCORKL?

No, a retractor is not necessary to use the SCORKL.

How is the SCORKL different from Spare Air?

The SCORKL is certified for recreational, shallow diving, unlike Spare Air which is only intended for emergency air supply. The SCORKL costs less and has a pressure gauge mounted to the regulator to ensure SCORKLers know how much air is remaining.

Who created the SCORKL?

Founder David Hallamore created the SCORKL after two successful crowdfunding campaigns back in 2017. Watch David talk to early supporters in 2019 about the process of designing, testing and manufacturing the SCORKL.

Is SNRKL the same as SCORKL?

No. SNRKL is a scam site. The SCORKL is only available for purchase at www.scorkl.com.

Do you sell replacement air filters for the SCORKL Hand Pump?

Yes, we sell replacement air filters for the SCORKL Hand Pump for USD$39. They are not currently listed on our website. Please send us a message to [email protected] to request one.

Can I use the SCORKL deeper than 6 meters?

Yes, you can use your SCORKL below 6 meters (20 feet) but we don’t recommend it.

Can I use the SCORKL in water colder than 15 degrees Celsius?

Yes, you can use your SCORKL in water temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit) but we don’t recommend it.

What are the product limitations of the SCORKL?

The SCORKL doesn't meet the requirements of EN 250 and is therefore designed for shallow diving use only. Customers should use the SCORKL ONLY within these recommended limits: No deeper than 6m (20ft), where the water temperature is above 15°C (60°F)

Can I refill my SCORKL with Nitrox?

The SCORKL should not be used with Nitrox (O2 content should be no greater than 21%). Failure to adhere to this warning may result in serious injury due to fire and explosion or the serious deterioration or failure of the equipment.

Is the air in the SCORKL clean?

Yes, your SCORKL is filled with Certified Grade E Air which refers to the quality of compressed air acceptable in a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Where can I get my SCORKL serviced?

Any dive shop is able to service your SCORKL.

How often should I get my SCORKL serviced?

We recommend an annual visual inspection and hydrostatic testing every five years, or any time a cylinder is damaged. If a cylinder is used frequently in warm, humid climates, the inspections should be performed more frequently.

Can I get my SCORKL refilled at a dive shop?

Yes, you can get your SCORKL refilled at a dive shop but we don’t recommend it.

Does SCORKL sell a Dive Compressor?

No, we don't currently sell a SCORKL Electric Dive Compressor but we are developing a portable electric compressor that will be fit-for-use. The only dive compressors that we recommend using are ones like these.

Do I use a Yoke or DIN with my SCORKL?

The SCUBA tank refill adapter that is included with your SCORKL is for a YOKE style valve. You will not be able to refill from a DIN style valve without a DIN Valve insert.

How many SCORKL refills can I get from a SCUBA cylinder?

We recommend refilling your SCORKL to at least 50 bar of pressure, this means that from a 200 bar SCUBA tank you can expect to refill your SCORKL about 32 times and your SCORKL PRO about 25 times.

How long does it take to refill the SCORKL from a SCUBA tank?

How long does it take to refill the SCORKL from a dive compressor?

It takes around a minute to refill your SCORKL from a dive compressor. Check out our video on refilling your SCORKL from a dive compressor.

How long does it take to refill from the SCORKL Hand Pump?

It takes 10 pumps per breath that you want to take from the SCORKL. If relying solely on the hand pump to fill and refill repetitively, we recommend filling just to halfway (50 - 100 bar, for 34 breaths available) for ease of use.

Where is the SCORKL made?

SCORKL HQ is based in Melbourne, Australia, where founder David Hallamore created and designed the first SCORKL. All of our products ship directly from our international distribution centre.

Can I use a car tyre compressor to refill my SCORKL?

No, you cannot use a car tyre compressor to fill your SCORKL. Your car tyre compressor can’t pump to a high enough pressure. Normal (e.g. tyre) compressors only pump to around 200 - 400 psi whereas the SCORKL cylinder requires 3,000 psi.

Can I use another brand’s hand pump with my SCORKL?

You should not use non-SCORKL branded items with your SCORKL products because they have not been tested for use with the SCORKL. You should only use the SCORKL Hand Pump with your SCORKL.

How do you know how much air is left in the SCORKL?

Each SCORKL is fitted with a pressure gauge mounted permanently in the field of view of the user which tells you exactly how much air you have left at any time.

Can I take my SCORKL on an airplane?

Yes, you most certainly can take the SCORKL as either checked or hand luggage when flying on commercial aircraft, it's one of the best features of the SCORKL. Follow these steps to pack your SCORKL for airline travel:

How often should I change the air filter and air moisture trap in my SCORKL Hand Pump?

The shelf life of an unopened Air Filter is two years. Do not open the foil package until you’re ready to install it. Once the air filter is installed, the maximum lifespan is six months.

Is there a SCORKL Portable Electric Air Compressor?

Not yet, but in the next year or so we will be adding a lightweight, relatively inexpensive electric portable compressor to the SCORKL filling range. You’ll be able to power this compressor by connecting it to a wall socket, your car or boat battery.

Can I use my own hand pump to refill the SCORKL?

No, you cannot use your own hand pump because it won’t achieve a high enough pressure and the air quality will not be suitable for breathing underwater. The SCORKL Hand Pump was designed specifically for refilling the SCORKL.

Can you recommended a lubricant for the SCORKL Hand Pump?

We recommend a food-grade silicon lubricant for SCUBA equipment, like Trident lubricant. Never use a hydrocarbon based oil (i.e. household oil or motor oil).

How can I refill my SCORKL?

You can refill your SCORKL three ways: from a SCUBA tank, from a diving compressor or with the SCORKL Hand Pump.

How does the SCORKL dive experience compare to SCUBA?

SCORKLing is a much more natural diving experience compared to traditional SCUBA because you’re free of heavy and cumbersome equipment like the dive tank and BCD. The SCORKL lends itself more to shallower, active dives rather than long, slow drifts.

How do I pack my SCORKL for an airplane?

Yes, you most certainly can take the SCORKL as either checked or hand luggage when flying on commercial aircraft, it's one of the best features of the SCORKL. Follow these steps to pack your SCORKL for airline travel:
